Originally a Catholic
church called St. Bavo's, this is now called
Grote
Kerk. It dominates the center of town. Mozart, among other have played the
organ here.
The sign on this building
translates to "Roman Catholic Military Personnel Club" Once common, most have
been converted to other uses. There were also associations for Protestants and
Humanists.
This building one
of the oldest in Haarlem, was built in 1598. The "Waag" (weigh
house).
