Kröller-Müller Museum

In October of 2003 I was fortunate to visit Holland during the 150th anniversary of Van Gogh's birth. There were special exhibits at both the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam and the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterloo near Hoge Veluwe, the largest national park in the Netherlands. For 10 euros I was able to take a bus between these fine museums. Helené Kröller-Müller was a great admirer and collector of the works of Vincent Van Gogh. During this special time there were many of Van Gogh's sketches on display. Due to the harmful effects of light, this is rarely done.

Most of the large shrubs appear to be Rhododendrons so the spring must be an awesome time to visit. kroller-muller museum netherlands holland kroller-muller museum netherlands holland

Many of the paintings on display were painted by Van Gogh during his voluntary stay in a mental hospital. I found these paintings to be different. Even his sunflowers seem ominous.
